Are Avocados Alkaline?
Yes, avocados are alkaline in nature, they leave behind a rich and alkalising ash after the digestive process. For these reasons they were included in Dr Sebi's Nutritional List.
Are Avocados Mucus Forming?
Despite being alkaline in their nutritional content, avocados are somewhat mucus forming.
Howver the degree to which they are mucus forming depends vastly on the quality of avocados you have. To give you an example, the avocados sold at my local supermarket are pale and slimy. The flesh has little colour and breaks down into a horrible slime. A horrible slime which would form mucus within the body. On the contrary, whilst living in South-East Asia the avocados I bought had bright yellow/green flesh and possesed a firmer denser and richer flesh, that you could just tell was brimming with nutriton. The flesh of these avocados did not break down into a slimy residue in the same way the low quality supermarket avocados, and therefore would be much less mucus forming.
If your avodacos sound like the former, I would avoid them from both a nutritional and mucus forming perspective.
Howver if you are able to get high quality avocados, whilst they may still be slightly mucus forming, they can be consumed no problem and will provide lots of beneficial nutrition.
Tree-Ripened Avocados -
An avocado that is picked early and ripened in transport as oppose to an avocado that is left on the tree to ripen will have a different nutritional profile, and therefore will be less in aligment with what nature intended. Something to consider for those following a strict regiment.
Overall avocados can be an alkalising addition to your diet (if they are high quality), however I would only recommend them as an occasional treat or as a transitionary food, one that is eliminated after a certain time period, due to their mucus forming nature and lack of tree-ripened options.
